Katelyn's March for Babies Team

Katelyn's March for Babies Team

Ashley and Michael began their volunteer career with the March of Dimes in 2004, when they represented the organization in Washington, DC on the Dr. Joy Browne Radio Show for Prematurity Awareness Day. That began their partnership with the March of Dimes, and their volunteer career with the National Capital Area Chapter.  They also formed a March for Babies Family Team, appropriately named Team Katelyn.

Family Teams are made up of friends and family who want to help – ALL babies. While Family Teams may vary in size and structure and have different personal reasons for walking, they do have a common bond – the hope that one day every baby will be born full term and healthy, and the belief that by supporting March of Dimes, that day will come soon.

Katelyn’s strength and love of life inspired her parents to form their family team. They are determined to raise 1 million dollars, the amount of Katelyn’s medical bills, for the March of Dimes so that every baby will get a healthy start. The Halls are well on their way, with over $140,000 raised in three years. They received awards at the March of Dimes Volunteer Leadership Conference in 2006, 2007 and 2008 for being a top family team.

In addition to fundraising, Ashley and Michael have been March of Dimes spokespeople for numerous events, corporate meetings and media interviews. In 2007, Ashley was honored with a March of Dimes Heroines in Technology Award for her excellant work in the technology industry and service to the March of Dimes.

Katelyn has also been an active volunteer with the March of Dimes. She has been a Chapter ambassador since 2005 and her picture has been displayed on March of Dimes educational materials and on the “Every Baby Has A Story Bus.” Katelyn even took her first steps at a March of Dimes event!
